tech201 publishes step-by-step fixes for Windows, Microsoft 365, Linux, networking, backups and PC hardware, plus tutorials for Oracle APEX. Every guide is written for people who want a problem solved, not a lecture.
Who writes tech201
tech201 is written by Kai Mercer, the pen name of an IT specialist who supports Windows PCs, Microsoft 365 and business networks as a day job. The same problems that come up at work, like Outlook password prompts, Teams freezing or a slow laptop, are the ones covered here.
A pen name keeps the day job and the site separate. Everything said about experience on this site is true; no credentials or job titles are made up.
How the guides are made
- Each fix is tested on a real Windows PC or a virtual machine before it is published.
- Commands and settings are checked against official documentation, such as Microsoft Learn and Oracle’s docs, and the source is linked.
- Each guide shows what it was tested on and when it was last updated.
The full process is on the How I test fixes page.
