This policy explains what information tech201.com (“tech201”, “we”) collects when you visit, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Server and security logs. Like most websites, our server, security and firewall tools record technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. This is used to keep the site secure and working.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read and how visitors find them. It uses cookies and collects data such as pages viewed, device type and approximate location.
- Advertising. We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
- Emails you send us. If you contact us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply.
Comments are turned off on tech201, so we do not collect comment data.
Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. tech201 itself does not set tracking cookies. Your light or dark mode choice is saved in your browser’s local storage on your device only and is never sent to us.
Google Analytics, Google AdSense and affiliate partners may set their own cookies. Where required by law (for example for visitors in the EU or UK), we ask for your consent before these load. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Third-party services
- Cloudflare delivers and protects the site. It processes your IP address and request data.
- Wordfence protects the site from attacks and may process IP addresses to block threats.
- Google provides analytics and ads. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Affiliate programs, such as Amazon Associates, may set cookies when you click an affiliate link so the retailer knows you came from tech201.
- Embedded content, such as YouTube videos, behaves as if you visited the other site and may collect data about you.
Your choices and rights
- Opt out of personalized Google ads in Google Ad Settings.
- Opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, California law or Malaysia’s PDPA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. Email us to make a request.
How long we keep data
Security logs are kept only as long as needed to protect the site. Emails are kept as long as needed to deal with your message. Analytics data follows Google Analytics’ retention settings.
Children
tech201 is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our tools or the law change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
